Royal Air Force Model Aircraft Association
Supporting Model Flying and Drone Racing within the Royal Air Force
The RAF Model Aircraft Association has been active since 1949 encouraging participants in Model Flying events at local, Inter-Service, national and international level.
Under the governance of the Directorate of RAF Sport, the RAFMAA supports Service Personnel as they compete in their chosen Model Flying discipline. This includes compliance with British Model Flying Association and CAA guidance to ensure that competition is conducted as safely as possible. The RAFMAA also works with the RAF Central Fund and the RAF Sports Federation to provide duty status and some financial support in the form of subsidy towards entry fees and equipment costs. The RAF Central Fund also supports a grant process that can provide some additional financial support to competitors, with applications being staffed through the RAFMAA.
The RAFMAA has a wealth of Model Flying experience to call upon to ensure your money is spent in the most cost effective way and with the contacts and support the association has developed over the years. We aim to provide the best advice for your chosen discipline.
The RAFMAA has members active in almost every form of competitive flying from more traditional disciplines such as Freeflight & Control Line to cutting edge aspects like FPV Drone & Wing Racing. We hold our own Service level events for members to attend and support our affiliated clubs at unit level.
Membership is open to Serving personell, veterans, and civil servants.
